   Born in Saint-Alban, Provence, Jean-Paul Alban, viscount de Villeneuve-Bargemont is the author of Économie politique chrétienne ou Recherches sur les causes du paupérisme (1834). it is considered one of the first works on social Catholicism. Villeneuve-Bargemont, who was elected a deputy in 1830, and served again from 1840 to 1848, sat with the representatives in the Chamber of Deputies who had legitimist leanings.
